mock up of the summer project webpages

This is the design of the web-page we discussed yesterday, we also have a tag line "after washing please remove all clothing" but I have not added that onto these pictures.

While I was editing the page above I decided to do another one just to have a choice of the direction we want to go in.

this is the second design

Tuesday 23 February 2010

I started thinking about a hello kitty style cartoon flash animation but maybe give it a twist.

So I thought the main character would be drawn and styled in the same manner.

However I want her to not fit the prototype of hello kitty and be some what of an outcast.

I started some drawings of faces to go from, trying out different face types, ears, accessories ect.

I eventually went with no.5 as my character.

When i had decided what I wanted her to look like I started to draw her out with differnt expressions to see what they would look like and how I would design them.

This will give me a lot of help when it comes to manipulating the expressions in flash.

I then drew her in photoshop which will be the final design before I put her into flash and start to animate her.

This is the second character in the story line who appears in the middle of the animation.

I wanted the girl to be designed differntly as she comes from a different world to the main character.

I decided to style her in the fashion of the cartoon series 'hey arnold' where their heads are significantly disproportionate to their bodies and the drawings are reasonably simple but also detailed.

I then went on the write a story board for this animation. So that i have a basic structure for my plot which I can then add to and elaborate later on.

After the story board was written i distingiused two main places in the story,

one of which is this one, the bubblegum-esqe hello kitty world where the main character starts off

and the world of reality which is where we meet the second character in this bar.

My portfolio website, the look!

Here is my finished design for my website. At the moment I am still tweaking it so that the three boxes on the right have picture links in them labeled 'Photography, My work and my references'

I am also putting a picture of myself in the other box and information about me in the main box.

You should also be able to subscribe to me in a RSS box I will function.

here is the photography page

my references page (spelling will be corrected)

and my work page.

there is also a page where you can email me

and lastly there is also a page linking you to lots of other sites I am on such as twitter and other blog sites.

My portfolio design

- this was my concept design for my web-page, i chose a reasonably bright colour scheme and wanted my design to look something along the lines of a magazine cover.

So i started with this as my basic template of the actual web page.

I would have the design and title/name at the top of the page to generally make things look aesthetically pleasing.

in the lower box i would have some information about who I am and for example my strengths in my field and past experiences ect ect. And a picture of myself so they will have a good idea about who i am.

I am basing my idea for my layout on the website 'Twitter' because i like how simple it is and it is also very easy to navigate round that page as there isn't a lot of separate boxes with different actions.

I would replace the tweet area with the picture of myself and the information I will write about myself.

After putting together my ideas from the original designs i started with i created this background for my web page.

I have overlayed a lot of images ontop of each other in a scrapbook style using images which compliment each other and match the colour scheme that I chose.

The whole background is very simplicit but also has a lot of different aspects.

This is the mock up of what I intend my website to look like.

I tweaked the layout of the page to make it look tidier and generally simpler which compliments the background design around it.

The fact that the background has so many differnt images means that I won't have a very busy design inside so my page won't get too 'messy'.

This is my finished design of my portfolio homepage.

The header will act as a home button which will be displayed on all the other webpages the links send you to.

I have chosen bright coloured text to prevent them being lost in the surrounding design and help them stand out.

I have also chosen a very basic picture of myself so that viewers can get a good idea of what I look like and it also keeps in with the basic layout of the page.

It is also very easy to distinguish how to get onto other pages and what else I have added to the site (my links and contact information).
